Why is it called a lift when you are using Botulinum Toxin Type A?

This treatment involves a few little injections to the neck muscles -the platysmal bands. Platysmal bands are depressor muscles. When these are injected, they relax and enable the surrounding elevator muscles to lift.

Over time, these strong bands of muscle actually play a role in pulling the appearance of the face down, exacerbating the effect of ageing. In an appropriate patient, relaxing these muscles with a carefully placed, appropriate dose of Botulinum can help lift the entire face and reduce the downward effect of ageing. The treatment can often prolong the need for surgery or in the right patient deliver the lifting results they seek. This treatment often works very well in conjunction with the Liquid Facelift, a treatment using dermal filler to subtly lift the features of the face.  Dermal Filelr can be used to replace lost volume and restore the facial features we enjoy in our youth.
